PRZ VALUE CERTIFICATION CITY ORDINANCE
May 18, 2014
Hello Neighbors,
Spring has finally sprung, well sort of. As I was driving on Friday morning, watching the rain briefly turn to snow I had to question my thoughts of what season it really was. I have checked the calendar and it says our temperatures are supposed to be in the 70s not the 30s. What a winter it has been, definitely one for the record books!
But the calendar says we are well into spring so I guess we have to start acting like it as well. At our homeowners association meeting last fall, we discussed the idea of looking for ideas that would benefit the neighborhood by arranging for services that everyone would have the opportunity to share in, ideally at an attractive cost. One of the popular service examples discussed was arranging for a licensed plumber to certify the RPZ valve that is an integral part of the irrigation systems that many have in our yards.
Based on general interest expressed at the meeting, we have worked with the Goodenough Inc. organization to arrange for anyone in the neighborhood to have their RPZ valve certified (in compliance with city ordinances) for the price of $65. That price will include the $19.95 fee charged by the city to file the compliance report for each home owner so the $65 cost is the total combined cost for the certification and the compliance filing fee.
You can contact Goodenough Inc. at (815) 827-4300 and set and set up an appointment directly with them. Tell them you are a resident of the Woods of Fox Glen neighborhood and they should recognize the $65.00 rate to come and certify the Back flow valve on your system. They are also capable of providing any repairs that may be needed to keep your valve working properly.
The more I have looked into the function of the backflow preventer in our systems, the more I have begun to appreciate the importance of a properly functioning valve. The Goodenough team comes with solid recommendations from our neighbors who have worked with them in the past. They are well qualified to keep your system working properly and provide the peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about water system contamination problems occurring in your home because of a faulty valve. I am confident you will have a good experience.
Regards,
